Well the balance of the MIXED BUSINESS CDs have gone South into Zarsoff care.
We took a visit out to the Spot in the Forest where Iz was found in 2014. Steve Batty had made a plaque for Izzy’s iron bark benches out there and Koala John had screwed it in and we went to take a look at how things were. Its dusty right now but the Uke and Buddha and Cross are all still surviving.

Beethovens sacked us from a supposed residency, but the local promoter and supportive punters pulled together a week’s worth of gigs so we could pay our way out of town. Those cobbled together gigs were hugely successful – I think the ‘stripping school teacher’ at Beethovens makes the story clear. |

| I can’t tell you the year (probably 1973), but I think this is the gig where Frank Butler took his Les Paul out of its case from the back of the truck, and it was in two pieces: The neck had broken just back from the headstock. He borrowed a Strat from one of the other bands, and the show went on as scheduled (then, if I remember rightly, we headed straight back to Melbourne in Chuggy’s Subaru for the late spot at – I can ‘t remember the name of the gig, but I can picture it clearly). What guitar Frank used at the later gig is now possibly lost to history. |  |

| I sure loved that Maton Magnetone short-scale bass – bought it from a hock shop in William Street, halfway up the hill from town towards the Cross. Cost me something like $85, and I had to lay-by it! You sure could bend the strings on it! |  |

The AUSSIE TAVERN in Murbah which was inexplicably closed for quite a period of time, re-emerged towards the end of 2008 – refurbished as they say – and it looks pretty good. The food is tempting, the interior is cool and just the right shade of dim for the heat up here in the North of NSW. These are border towns we’re talking about. Early January saw Izzy playing there on a Sunday afternoon with the now ‘well established despite the odds’ combination of Izzy, Scrubby and Kel. Take a look at the chalkboard next time you’re walking the streets of Murwillumbah. Pop in and ask for Izzy and Co to return. |

LUFFLEY CAFE is the 2009 venue every 2nd Friday night for Izzy with Scrubby Peter Hurcombe and Kel Macintosh. It brings the Murbah boys out of a night and leads to dancing on the street. Check Michael on the right carefully for consumption of a bathtub sized cup of coffee app 9pm each Friday night. That’s Robbie on the left from the Castle at Uki. Also attended the NEWLING PUBLIC SCHOOL end of the year concert held in the OLD ARMIDALE TECHERS’ COLLEGE. The night was a ripper with audience applause at max. Scripted by one of the teachers. Verve and Gusto in the performances. ( Been a teacher for 40 years and don’t recall such an enjoyable end of year performance – says Izzy’s Chick. )Bravo NEWLING !!!!!

Tonight Izzy is at LUFFLEY CAFE in MUWILLUMBAH with Kel and Scrubby. Its SPEED ON TWEED so it could be a wild night. Then thats it at this end for a week . Iz is heading south as his alter ego PETER KNOX to host a DRAMA WORKSHOP at the CLARENCE VALLEY CONSERVATORIUM in GRAFTON. Then on to BELLINGEN where he may be at the LIVE MIKE NIGHT at the FEEDERAL HOTEL in BELLINGEN and up to ARMIDALE and a guest appearance at the GALLOWAY. Then back to base for LUFFLEY FASHION PARADE FRIDAY 26 SEPTEMBER.
