It IS appreciated.   Jamoze done and likewise Ilnam Estate Winery. The Cafe Vibes worked again. Accomplices were mark Quinn, Tony and Chrissie and Peter Lawson.

IZZY FOREAL goes it alone TONIGHT !

After one cantankerous week with disputations and hurt feelings and all manner of disruptions – TONIGHT IS IT. Izzy goes it alone at Jamoze. The sun is out and the weather has warmed after a wild week of rains and winds which saw the music cancelled on the Friday night – a bummer which meant no Johnny Carr. Looks good for tonight however. Don’t feel too cold and all is well.  Guitars in hand and PA all rigged up to go. If you are reading this on Saturday 26 July 2008 – come on down and lend a hand or a voice or a keyboard tune.

  

and during the week a call came through Kia Ora said the SMS. Do you still need the gat player ?

Turned out to be Dave. We don’t know Dave who is a guitar player with a decidedly Kiwi accent – but he cheered things up no end did Dave from Brisbane and one day just might be here in this area with said guitar.

IZZY FOREAL TRIES TO GO IT ALONE AT JAMIESON’S RESTAURANT

 

TO ALL TWEED GOLD COAST NORTHERN RIVERS MUSICIANS

Izzy Foreal may perform solo on Saturday, July 26 at his regular Jamieson’s Restaurant gig in the Panorama Plaza, Scenic Drive, West Tweed. If that happens, Izzy will be playing 6-string guitar all night, with his usual kazoo and vocal additions. This may not sound too remarkable for a performer who has been playing as long as Izzy, except for the fact that he is a bass-player and has only played guitar in front of a public audience a couple of times in his career – and never for three 45-minute sets! Izzy usually has another musician with him at Jamieson’s each Saturday night, because of his preferred role as a bass-player. He’s been warming up to this solo effort with an opening bracket on guitar over the last couple of Saturdays. To make things a bit easier for himself, Izzy is inviting any local Tweed & Northern Rivers musicians / performers to come along and join in for the fun of it. As well as taking the pressure off for the night, this will give Izzy a chance to check out the local talent, so that he can widen his options for future ‘duo’ nights at Jamieson’s.

A rare 1980s Japanese-made (Matsumoku Company) Washburn Scavenger Bass, in original moulded hard case. Solid mahogany body with carved arch-top, detachable rock maple neck, strings through body, anchored at back, polished rosewood fingerboard, single-coil split pickup, precision die-cast bridge with brass saddles, metal volume & tone knobs replace plastic originals, all other fittings original, rare redish woodgrain finish. Played for many years by Izzy Foreal from Zarsoff Brothers (he has owned about 6 of this model).

Off the top of Izzy’s head – Friday nights see the LIVE BANDS at BILAMBIL SPORTS CLUB. 8pm. Izzy isn’t on there this week the 4th July. But he will be there in the audience with the Chick for JOHNNY CARR’s Night which has been showcasing some local talent and a wide variety of musos and music. Can’t do better than a John Carr night. A real Nice Man and a top musician. Expect to see such names and MARK QUINN and JOHN SUTTON – ROBIN on DRUMS and MORE.

JOHN SUTTON AT ILNAM WINERY. JOHN play bass with TUFF and with Johnny Carr on alternate Friday Nights at Bilambil. The last Sunday in June John was at Ilnam electrified accoustic guitar in classical style. An excellent day all round.

JAMIESONS RESTAURANT this week – SAT 5  is IZZY  with SCRUBBY Pete Hurcombe – This DUO is warming up through the Winter – AS HILLBILLY BLUES BANDITS and as a couple – becoming increasingly familiar with one another – and the benefits are showing – musically that is.

This weekend JULY  6  – BOB DYLAN SONGBOOK BAND IS BACK AT SPORTS CLUB – 3-6pm. Bring yourself some nibblies and join in.  Johnny Carr will be off at one of his many gigs and TOAD is likely to be standing in for him. TOAD was recently responsible for taking BLOKE to Vietnam and even worse- returning him.  Toad played guitar in the SOUTHERN COMFORT BAND years back with BLOKE and GRERG and ANDY ANDERSON.

Could well be that  on the 20 something or other of July – RORY ZARSOFF – a blast from the past will be performing with Izzy at Jamiesons – July 26 ?

Then wrap the month up with ILNAM WINERY – Izzy and Pete Lawson – 12 noon till 3 pm. Carool way looking out over the Coast.

 

      ADDED NEWS – because the Iz is actually a LETTERED MAN. His Letters are (BCAHons , MAHons) and he is an EDUCATOR of the Entertaining Variety.

MONDAY 28TH JULY COULD BE THE FIRST OF THE IZZY FOREAL SONGWRITING WORKSHOPS AT THE TWEED COMMUNITY COLLEGE. Still some spare slots at 07 5524 8884 . Izzy has taught songwriting down south – at Port Kembla Youth Project – and at Para Meadows Special School. However you can join this even if you neither young nor special. You can join it if you are young and if you are special as well.

Izzy is off into August mentally as well. Find out how Izzy writes such lines as

August he tells the Chick – Saturday Mornings at 10 am for 8 weeks from the 2nd august – script writing for the stage at TWEED COMMUNITY COLLEGE. 

He could also be at Murwillumbah College from the 15th August – starting at 12-5 SONG AND SCRIPT WRITING WORKSHOPS. ACE AT MURWILLUMBAH. Right near the New Leaf Cafe.

Sunday 7 sep and 14th Sept – LITERARY HISTORY OF THE TWEED AT TWEED ACE 10-4.
